Toto manufactures the Washlets that are the Japanese toilets that are so well-known in Japan. These toilets have a bidet, heated seat and deodorizer, among other things.
Before To forming Toto its members worked as session musicians for Steely Dan[3] Seals, Www.Totopia.Kr Crofts[4] Boz Skaggs, Sonny and Cher. The guitarist Steve Lukather was the band’s lead singer.
About Toto
Toto was formed in the year 1976 by guitarists Jeff Porcaro, David Paich (who at the time were also acclaimed studio players working with Boz Scaggs) and singer/bassist Bobby Kimball. Taking their name from the Latin word meaning “all encompassing,” the group was intent on exploring every style of music.
In 1981 Toto’s third album Turn Back was a complete failure however, they bounce back with their fourth release Isolation that features two hits including the title track and Roseanna. The album and tour established them as a brand around the world.
After a break of couple of years, Toto return with the album Fahrenheit in the year 1986. The album is an departure from the ballads on previous albums, and also features some heavy rock. This was their first platinum album in North America.
During the recording of the band’s fifth album, the band loses their manager and are put in financial difficulty. They decide to change their name and create a new album with the new producer. Joseph Williams, the son of John Williams, the legendary film composer and actress Barbara Ruick from 1950s, takes over Fergie Frederiksen as lead vocalist. Joseph Williams is a natural frontman and gives the band much-needed boost.
The band released Mindfields in 1999 and embarks on a major tour across the globe. After a few months in Europe they head to Japan where the shows are sold out. After a short break, Toto resumes recording and begins recording their first live album entitled Absolutely Live in 1993 which includes an original cover of Weezer’s song Hash Pipe in response to the band covering their hit Africa during their recent tour. Toto’s touring lineup includes drummer Lenny Castro and bassist Shannon Forrest along with keyboardist Shem Von Schroeck.
Musicians
Toto is an American rock band that enjoyed their greatest success during the eighties. The band was created by experienced session musicians and has sold more than 40 million albums in the world.
Toto was the first album released by the band in 1978. The album was a huge hit and helped propel the band to international fame. Since then, the group has released 14 albums which have all been huge hits.
Toto composed their first and only film score in 1984 for the film Dune. It was a huge undertaking and the entire band had to be involved. The album that followed, Kingdom of Desire, was a record that also had a great success. After a world tour, Bobby Kimball quit the group. He was replaced by Fergie Frederiksen, formerly of Le Roux. The band continued their journey with their fifth studio album, Isolation. The album featured a few songs that were hits, like “Stranger in Town”.
After Isolation, Toto took a break from the spotlight and stepped away from the stage. This gave the members of the group the chance to pursue their own projects. In 1996, the group came back together to tour and make an album. It was the first time in over a decade that all the original members were on stage.
The next year, Toto toured with Ringo Starr’s All Starr Band. This was the last time all of Toto’s original members appeared performing at the same time. After that, the group broke up again. Toto reunited for an event benefiting the ALS Foundation in 2010. to raise funds for the ALS Foundation. It was the first time in 31 years that all of Toto’s original members were on stage together. In addition to the original members, keyboardist Greg Tambu filled in for Paich and bassist David Hungate filled in for Shem Von Schroeck.
Tours
Toto has remained one of the most popular rock bands for over three decades, releasing massive hits such as “Rosanna,” “Hold The Line,”” and their 8X platinum smash, “Africa.” With a variety of influences, ranging from progressive rock to world rhythms, soul and jazz, the group continues to please fans with their anthemic arena rock.
The band suffered numerous setbacks in their later times, despite their fame. In 2002 the drummer Greg Phillinganes left the group, and keyboardist David Paich took a leave of absence for health reasons. Drummer Shem von Schroeck took over, but the band was not the same without Paich and Phillinganes. In 2008, a string of lineup changes and a string of disappointing releases prompted Toto to end their tour for a couple of years. Toto returned to touring in 2012 after the release of the album 40 Trips Around The Sun.
The album marked a return to their best form, and the tour that accompanied it featured sold-out concerts in North America and Europe. The reunion of Toto gained momentum with the return of bassist Shem Von Schroeck and guitarist Steve Lukather.
Toto’s music is just as relevant today as it was in the 1970s and 1980s and getting new fans with each new generation. Their success has made them a constant part of pop culture, and their live performances are always full of energy and excitement.
